Native Babies are the Best

We went to the UVU Pow Wow on November 14, 2015 after my dad had told us he was going to go. Olive LOVED it. She loved the music, and would bop around to it almost as soon as we got there. She loved dancing tiny tot with all the other little kids, and she looked so cute. Elizabeth also came along and did a great job carrying Olive around and dancing with her. It was awesome to watch my dad dance and see him in full regalia. I hadn't seen him dance since I was super little, and honestly can't really remember that far back. But he was so incredible. Us Picard kids got some good dancing genes from both sides, that's for sure. And he looked way cool. Even some random girl asked for a picture with him because he looked like such a boss. I'm so proud of my heritage, and my dad.

we rap, all the time. oh, we are so good at rapping.

probably the best thing we've done thus far in our lives...

sara wanted to do a freestyle rap battle for her birthday present. so we came up with topics, put them in a hat, and drew them out. it honestly went 100x better than I could have ever anticipated. it was so funny. see if you can guess what the topics are! 11/28/2015

Olive's Tenth Month

This picture looks like she's fake walking. It's pretty funny. but really, she just kept rolling over and trying to get up. hardest photoshoot yet!

Olive had a pretty exciting month. She learned to walk AND she had not one, not two, but four teeth come in on the top of her mouth! With that, she started eating lots more regular food in bigger chunks. Anytime someone is eating around her, she demands (and i mean, demands) to have some. We also accidentally taught her to say more in sign language. Like, it really was so accidental. She'd seen it maybe one or two times and then i did it one day, and she followed. and ever since then she has been able to let us know when she is still hungry. it's great. we're also trying to teach her water, milk, and thank you. she does milk really well, but the other ones aren't as instant and natural to her. Olive also took her first trip to the zoo with Grandma Tracy, Aunts Elizabeth, Ari, Tina, and Goobs, and cousins Mersadez, Preston, and Asher.  I've tried to keep up with her ongoings more this month, but i still feel like i should do a post like this, just so it's consistent throughout her first year.

and now, for some pix.

Family Pictures 2015

one of my earliest memories is meeting Brooke Stapleton. i must have been 4 or so, and i was at my older brother's t-ball game. we were at mountain view park in moscow, and i was playing with her and her older brother, clay. and they were the most hilarious people i'd ever met. like, i remember thinking in my 4 year old brain, who are these people and why are they are SO FUNNY.  and just laughing and laughing at everything they said. and them just feeding off of each other and being hilarious, child comedians. it's such a random memory, but clearly it made a lasting impression on me. brooke is still one of the funniest people i know. and actually so is the whole mosman clan. you meet one and you've probably never laughed harder. then you meet another and find out they have literally the funniest family on the planet. not just her immediate family, but cousins included.  i don't know how they do it.

anyway, besides being essentially the mindy kaling of my childhood, brooke is also an amaaaazing photographer. she photographed our wedding, and i'm obsessed with her pictures. now that olive is almost a year old, i figured it might be a good time to finally get some pictures taken. so, here they are! picture OVERLOAD.

turns out, leaves are pretty delicious. and hopefully a little nutritious?
