We started out this month in BEAUTIFUL Florida! It was such a fun family trip. Olive turned 6 months in Universal Studios. We had lots of yummy food, which I'm sure we'll go back to when Olive is older. Some of my faves were Yellow Dog Eats in Orlando, Sweet Dogs in Coral Gables, Versailles on Calle Ocho, and Hash House a Go Go.
In Miami, we stayed on Key Biscayne. We went to the beach, the everglades, the University of Miami, the Fort Lauderdale temple, and all over the area where Joey served his mission. We hung out with awesome, incredible people Joey knew while serving. It was such a special experience and warmed my heart to be there with him where he spent some pretty influential years. At the Everglades it was SO HOT, and it was the first time the whole trip Olive's cheeks looked flushed red and she was so sweaty. It felt pretty icky to us all I think. and Joey ate this alligator sandwich--which tasted like a chewy chicken.
Olive is getting so big! At her 6 month check up she was about 17.5 lbs (60th Percentile) and I can't remember her exact length but it was the 82nd Percentile of height. Her sleep was knocked off a little bit after returning from Florida, but like the champ that she is, it only took a week or so to get back to her regular routine.
She started to eat cereal snacks towards the end of the month and is now quite the pro at using her thumb and pointer finger to pick it up. She has started to start saying, "ba ba" and the like, and sometimes even "ma ma." now we just have to get her to identify me as that sound :) She loves to move around and when music comes on she starts to rock back and forth, or dance. She chews on anything she can get in her mouth. We think she's teething all the time, but nothing has popped out yet.
Aunt Sara came to visit and it's the first time she's been around someone she's not around all the time that she didn't feel anxiety. But that's because she's so fun! She loves all of her aunts and uncles, and Elizabeth always takes her to play piano and dance, so she always laughs and has fun with her.
